What is kotlin?
Kotlin is an open source, static-type, cross-platform programming language. Kotlin first appeared in 2011, although it
did not have much popularity in the first five years of its life.
It was not until 2017, and thanks to Google announcing that it would support Kotlin, when this programming language finally
began to gain popularity among Android application developers.
The first stable version of Kotlin came out in March 2020. As previous versions were already used by many companies for the
development of Android applications.
Since then, Kotlin adoption has been on the rise. In recent surveys of developers and programmers, 72% of them said that Kotlin had
become their preferred option when developing for Android. Let's look at some of the reasons why this is so.
